I created the Strange Tower. Except where credited, everything here was built, designed, written and developed by me, from the webpage to the words and everything in between. (But not the gem icons, which came from Dragonsan Studios!) I began working on the Strange Tower in June of 2024, but it's an iteration of an idea I'd toyed with for several years.
When I'm not working on the tower, I make fractal art, silly poetry, mind-bending short stories, quirky board games and other creative work under the name Complicated Reality. I'm also one of the organizers of Market for the Strange, a wandering art market pop-up in Oregon where weird art is always welcome. From time to time, I'm also a puzzle designer for Constructed Adventures, an agency that creates amazing puzzle adventure experiences around the country. With so many different creative disciplines, picking a title was hard, so I settled on Laser Fractal Space Wizard.
Before I was a wizard, I worked in the video-game industry and other tech-focused offices around Seattle. And before that, I was a regular participant in the Destination Imagination program. I've been a creative entertainer my whole life. Currently, I enjoy living near an enchanted forest on the stormy side of Oregon. I live with a druid, a fae, another wizard and a couple hippies, and at least as many animals as people.
I'm neurodivergent, but I prefer to say I have a shiny brain. In particular, I have almost total aphantasia, moderate face-blindness, and a sort of cyclical depression (but don't worry, I'm happy to be here). I'm also a proud ace, which mostly means that sexuality isn't a major focus in my personality. I use he/him pronouns, thanks.
I grew up with an internet that was full of interesting websites designed by passionate creators, before everything became food for popularity algorithms and dopamine casinos. Honestly, I'm not sure we'll every quite return to those days, but the Strange Tower is my way of bringing that spirit forward, for at least a little while longer.
