Barclay Explains the Tower

"The tower is a complicated place," Barclay said. "Once you get in, you'll see that it's only really a tower on the outside. It took some rather ferocious mathematics to pull that off. A whole team of wizards and engineers and even a sanctioned Trigonometrist!" You aren't quite sure what that is, but you can tell from his tone it's a position of significant respect.

"Some adventurers call it a game, others call it a library, and while explorers wander on their own, it's become a bit of a community, too. You have a peculiar bond with other seasoned tower climbers you meet outside of the tower. It's hard to explain, you'll figure it out in time. All that's really important is that you let your curiosity guide you."

You look around and can't find anyone else. You're alone, except for Barclay. There are no trampled paths suggesting significant foot traffic. If you had to guess, few people if any have been here recently. "It looks kind of lonely to me."

Barclay chuckles. "It usually will. Explorers wander on their own. What that actually means is probably best saved for later. But even if there were a hundred other explorers standing right where you are, you wouldn't notice them. I might be having this very conversation with some of them now. Like I said, it's complicated, but you'll figure it out."

"I should warn you, though. It's not for everyone. If you don't enjoy books, puzzles, deep thoughts, or general silliness, or if you're allergic to the Choice Gems, this is probably not your cup of tea. But who am I to say? If you've got any curiosity about you at all, you should have no trouble finding the entrance."
